Like Edison and the Kansas Housewife, this exercise measures students’ ability to source and contextualize a document. Students read an 1837 account from a woman who traveled with the Continental Army. Students must then select which facts that would help them determine whether her experiences were typical of women in the United States during the Revolutionary War and of camp followers.
