During the Classic Period (250-900 CE), the Maya made major advances in science, engineering, art, and architecture. However, many scholars have argued that Maya civilization collapsed at the end of the Classic Period. Popular accounts often depict Maya civilization as fallen, vanished, or lost. In this Structured Academic Controversy (SAC), students examine historical documents to determine whether or not Maya civilization truly collapsed.
