Institute Overview
During this interactive online institute, participants will explore the Digital Inquiry Group’s Reading Like a Historian lessons and Beyond the Bubble assessments. Across three sessions, educators will deepen their understanding of inquiry-based history instruction and practical classroom implementation strategies.

Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available for teachers who can verify current employment at a Title I school in the United States. This form provides more information. The deadline to apply for a scholarship for this institute is April 6.

Each session includes structured opportunities to engage with materials in both whole-group and small breakout discussions. Participants will leave with actionable strategies for classroom implementation.

Institute Instructors

Joel Breakstone
Co-Founder and Executive Director, Digital Inquiry Group
Joel Breakstone leads DIG’s efforts to improve education by conducting research, working with school districts, and providing free curriculum materials. He previously taught high school history.

Brad Fogo
Associate Professor, San Francisco State University
Brad Fogo is an Associate Professor of teacher education at SFSU, where he teaches new history/social science teachers. He was previously the director of curriculum and professional development for Stanford History Education Group. Before Stanford, he taught history in public schools for nine years.

Camila Lee
Program Coordinator and Institute Administrator, Digital Inquiry Group
Camila Lee is DIG’s Program Coordinator. Previously, she was an instructional designer and research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Teaching Systems Lab. She holds a B.A. in computer science from Wellesley College.
